Code Of Conduct
ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER AND
LEADERSHIP VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT
The Central California Bleeding Disorders Foundation (CCBDF) commits itself and its members to ethical, professional, and lawful conduct, including proper use of authority and appropriate decorum when acting as a board member or volunteer leader. It is the policy of CCBDF that the board of directors, industry and medical advisory board of directors, and chapter volunteers adhere to the Code of Conduct.
- Board members and volunteers must respect and adhere to the confidentiality policies of CCBDF, and therefore may not disclose, divulge, or make accessible confidential information belonging to, or obtained through their affiliation with CCBDF to any person, including relatives, friends, and business and professional associates. This includes, but is not limited to, information about those served by the chapter; information about those who support the chapter; and information about employees of the chapter.
- Voting Board Members and volunteers (*excluding Industry and Medical Advisory Committee members) have a responsibility to scrupulously avoid any direct or indirect conflict of interest between his or her own personal, professional or business interests and the interests of CCBDF and to act in the best interests of CCBDF. This includes refraining from the promotion of any “Industry” (Homecare and Manufacturers of products related to bleeding disorders) product or service through public speaking, social media promotion or participating in a video on behalf of an Industry company while serving on the advisory board of directors. *There are separate agreements made with Industry and Medical Advisory Committee members.
- There must be no self-dealing or any conduct of private business or personal services between any advisory board member or volunteer and the organization, except as procedurally controlled by the CCBDF board of directors to assure openness, competitive opportunity, and equal access to inside information.
- Advisory board members and volunteers will support the legitimacy and authority of the final determination of the advisory board on any matter, irrespective of the member’s personal position on the issue.
- Your conduct while serving in a leadership role for CCBDF forms the public’s impression of you and, in turn, of CCBDF. Therefore, it is important for you to adhere to high standards of professional and personal behavior.
- Board members should refrain from:

- the use of profane or abusive language, fighting, deliberately causing injury to another or any disorderly conduct or malicious disturbance; as well as
- drug abuse defined as the misuse or illegal use of any material or controlled substance, including alcohol and prescription drugs, which alters mood, perception, consciousness or impairs one’s performance.
